The Essentials Pass is the smaller version of the Stockholm Pass. You visit three attractions, and you have 30 days from the first scan to do it. The three are not freely chosen, though: one comes from a premium list of three entries, the other two from a standard list.

Weighing it up
The selection rule that hardly anyone mentions
Go City sells the pass as “three attractions”. That is true, but it sounds freer than it is. Exactly one of your three choices has to come from the premium list, and that list holds only three entries: The Vasa Museum, The Royal Palace and Skansen. The other two come from a standard list. So you cannot take two of the three big names, and nor can you pick three museums from the standard list.
What is missing altogether: Gröna Lund Amusement Park, the full-day trips to Birka, Artipelag and Gustavsberg and Nationalmuseum appear on neither list. If you are travelling to Stockholm to get out into the archipelago, the Essentials Pass is the wrong pass.
The sums can go against you, too. The standard list runs from expensive boat tours to a fika in a café, and its entries lie far apart on price. Tick off the three cheapest and the total comes in under the price of the pass, in which case single tickets would have served you better. Choose the expensive boat tours and you are well above it. It is worth a look at the prices in the list above before you buy, rather than once you are in the city.
Who it suits all the same: longer stays without a sightseeing marathon. The 30 days are the real advantage. If you are in Stockholm for two weeks on business and want to do something on three of the evenings, a day pass gains you nothing, whereas the Essentials Pass does. If you have three full days ahead of you, put the All-Inclusive Pass beside it: the choice there is far wider.

Can I choose any three attractions I like?+
No. Exactly one choice has to come from the premium list (The Vasa Museum, The Royal Palace, Skansen), the other two from the standard list. The split is fixed, and you cannot swap it around.
How many attractions are on the standard list?+
Twelve. Go City's own description speaks of the “Top 10”, yet the selection lists behind the pass hold twelve entries. The list itself is binding, not the heading above it; because the provider's own text contradicts it, the number is only moderately documented. The full line-up is on the pass versions page.
Are the archipelago trips included?+
No. The full-day trips to Birka, Artipelag and Gustavsberg appear on neither of the two selection lists. You can only have them with the All-Inclusive Pass, or individually from the operator.
Do the three visits have to happen on one day?+
No, quite the opposite. From the first scan you have 30 days. That is the real difference from the All-Inclusive Pass, whose days run back to back.
