How the Stockholm Pass works

The Stockholm Pass works very simply - from ordering to activation in Stockholm.

  • 1

    Select and buy a pass

Go City only offers one variant in Stockholm: the Stockholm All-Inclusive Pass. On the Go City website, you choose how many days and people you need a pass for. The price is displayed in Swedish kronor and you can pay with PayPal and most debit and credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

  • 2

    Get a pass (digital)

After purchase, you will receive the pass digitally as a QR code. You can download it in the Go City app or save it as a PDF on your smartphone or print it out.

No physical voucher or on-site collection is necessary - the digital pass is ready to use immediately. Tip: The Go City app also provides helpful information such as opening times, maps and reservation information for each attraction.

  • 3

Do not activate the pass immediately

Important to know: The pass is only activated the first time you visit an attraction. Downloading or synchronizing in the app does not trigger activation.

You can therefore buy the pass weeks in advance and store it in the app without the validity period already running. Unused passes are valid for up to 2 years from the date of purchase and can be started at any time during this period.

  • 4

    Plan your visit & reservations

Before you set off, it is advisable to make a rough plan. Some popular attractions or tours (e.g. certain boat trips) require a reservation in advance.

In the Go City app, such cases are marked with "Reservation required", including instructions on how to book. However, you can visit most attractions spontaneously without booking in advance.

  • 5

    Activate and use a pass

As soon as everything is prepared, you can start exploring. Your pass is activated the first time you visit an included attraction. Simply show the QR code at the entrance - either on your smartphone or printed out - and you will be admitted.

From this moment on, the validity period of your pass begins. Important: The validity is calculated in consecutive calendar days, not in 24-hour periods. This means, for example, that if you have a 3-day pass and use it for the first time on Tuesday at 3 pm, Tuesday is considered day 1 and the pass expires on Thursday at 11:59 pm.

Frequently asked questions about the Stockholm Pass

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Stockholm Pass, which offers you free entry and discounts to many sights in Stockholm.

They are activated automatically the first time you visit an attraction. All you have to do is have your digital pass (QR code) scanned at the entrance to the first attraction it contains. From this scan, the pass is considered "activated" and the validity period expires.

So feel free to buy or load the pass in advance - it will remain inactive until you use it for the first time on site.

Yes, if you have a pass for several days, the days must be used consecutively. After the first activation on day X, this and the immediately following calendar days count as usage time. You cannot interrupt or split up the validity period.

Example: Activation on Wednesday (day 1) means that Thursday (day 2) and Friday (day 3) are automatically the remaining days of validity of a 3-day pass, regardless of whether you visit something on these days or not. You should therefore choose your start time wisely and ideally start in the morning to make the most of each day.

Calendar days up to midnight are decisive. Each day of the pass ends at 11:59 pm, regardless of the time you start on that day. If you start in the afternoon, for example, you will lose the unused hours of the morning.

Therefore, Go City recommends that you start sightseeing early in the day so that you get the full benefit of each Pass day.

No. Each pass is personal and can only be used by one person. You cannot pass the QR code on to friends like a Netflix password - everyone needs their own pass.

Although no ID is checked when scanning at the attractions, parallel use of the same code at different locations would be recognized and is not permitted.

The Stockholm Pass is a digital pass. You can either show it in the Go City app on your smartphone or save the QR code from the confirmation email as a PDF on your phone or print it out.

The email confirmation alone is not sufficient for admission - the QR code must be shown and scanned. It is not necessary to exchange a voucher or collect anything; the digital code is your ticket to all attractions.

Mostly not. You can visit the majority of the sights included in the pass spontaneously. However, there are a few exceptions, especially popular tours and activities with limited space (e.g. certain boat trips or guided tours).

Such attractions are marked with a note in the app and in the digital guide. In these cases, you will also find information in the app on how to make a reservation (often via an online form or by emailing/phoning the provider). Remember that your pass days must be valid on the day of reservation - so only book activities for dates when your pass is still active.

Most museums and regular attractions do not require pre-registration; you can simply go with your pass.

No. The Stockholm Pass does not cover travel on the metro, buses, streetcars or public transport ferries. The pass focuses on admissions and tourist tours. However, as mentioned, sightseeing buses and some boat tours are part of the offer, which is quite handy for exploring the city.

If you want to use public transport a lot, you will need to buy a separate ticket or an SL Travelcard. These are available for 24 or 72 hours of unlimited travel and can be used in addition to the Stockholm Pass.

Yes, Go City offers discounted children's passes. A children's pass is valid for children between the ages of 6 and 15. Children under the age of 6 usually do not need their own pass, as many attractions in Stockholm are free for toddlers - when accompanied by a paying adult, they can enter for free. For young people aged 16 and over, the adult price applies.

When booking, you can select the appropriate number of Adult/Child passes. Note that children with their own pass are also only allowed to visit most attractions when accompanied by an adult (i.e. you cannot give a pass to a 10-year-old alone).

Go City has a customer-friendly cancellation policy. You can cancel non-activated Stockholm Passes up to 30 days after purchase and get your money back. So if you buy the pass in advance and then change your mind or postpone your trip, this is not a problem - as long as you arrange the return within 30 days (online via customer service).

No refunds are possible after activation, as the pass is then considered used. By the way: If an attraction you want is removed from the program after you have purchased the pass, you can also make use of your right of return - but as a rule, the most important highlights always remain part of the offer.

Each Stockholm Pass purchased remains valid for up to 2 years from the date of purchase as long as it has not been activated. You can therefore buy the pass well in advance (e.g. to benefit from discounts) and then use it at the desired time.

The clock only runs from the first use. However, an unused pass expires automatically after 24 months. Once activated, it is then only valid for the booked duration (days or number of attractions).

Most travelers will of course use their pass immediately on their next trip - but it's good to know that you're not under any time pressure.

No. Each attraction included in the pass can only be visited once per pass. The first scan there will grant entry via the pass; a second scan at the same location would be rejected by the system. This rule applies to all All-Inclusive and Explorer Passes.

However, as there are over 50 different activities to choose from, you will usually find enough alternatives instead of doing something twice. If you liked an attraction so much that you want to visit it again, you would have to buy a separate ticket for it.
